Chloe conducts La finta giardiniera with Residentie Orkest and the Dutch National Opera Academy

This summer, Chloe conducted the Residentie Orkest and singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy in a production of Mozart’s early masterpiece, La finta giardiniera at Amare, Den Haag.  Inspired by Dutch painting, the production is directed by Anja Kühnhold in association with the Badisches Staatstheater Karslruhe, where it was first performed in 2021.

“Rediscovering the performance with the DNOA gives me the opportunity to see the production from a different perspective,” she says . 'Approaching young, fresh-minded, less experienced singers gives you the opportunity to look at things in a completely different way. You have to dig deeper into each character because you have to explain more. The process is more open and we investigate more together; the young singers also bring a different kind of energy to the characters. If, as with DNOA, the roles are shared by two singers, you can incorporate aspects of both into shaping the character, making it their character. The whole process is very cheerful and joyful and we discover the whole production with completely new eyes. You also learn a lot yourself - it's a real give and take.'

Following a successful season as Assistant Conductor at the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Chloe's career is going from strength to strength, already showcasing great versatility on both the operatic and symphonic stages. Next season she returns to conduct the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic at the Concertgebouw and Residentie Orkest at Amare, and will make her debut with the Orchestre National de Lille and London Mozart Players. She will assist at Garsington in a production of Britten A Midsummer Night’s Dream and at Opera North in Mozart Così fan tutte, where she will conduct at least 3 performances herself.
